IMS believes in the importance of partnering with our community by sharing our resources to support local, meaningful initiatives. As a family-run business, many faith- and family-based values drive the company's desire to help those in need.
By donating our time and services to those in the community, IMS impacts where our company and employees live and work with the hope of giving our neighbors access to a better life.
Corporate Sponsor of Noah's Children Forty-One event
This annual gala raises money to benefit Noah's Children, central Virginia's only pediatric palliative care and hospice program. This group serves infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses while also supporting their families. Currently, Noah's Children is able to offer its service without charging families, thanks in part to the money raised at its annual gala.
Big Stone Gap
For many years IMS has donated a truck and driver to transport clothing donations collected by local churches and deliver them to Big Stone Gap, a small community in Wise County, VA. The families of Big Stone Gap greatly appreciate the much-needed clothing donations. IMS coordinates pick up and storage of the donations as well as delivery.
Central Virginia Food Bank
Each week IMS provides a truck and driver to pick up food from the Central Virginia Food Bank and deliver it to a local church pantry for distribution.
Chesterfield Christmas Mother
As the holidays approach, IMS aids the volunteers and organizers of the Chesterfield Christmas Mother in setting up their distribution facility. IMS has donated trucks for pick up of the conveyors used for food donations, covered the cost of cardboard boxes to package holiday meals for the families in need across Chesterfield, and committed to an annual sponsorship of their auction fundraiser. The good work of the many volunteers associated with the Chesterfield County Christmas Mother inspires IMS to give back.
Holiday Bike Fund
IMS has established an annual holiday bike fund to raise money for purchasing bikes and helmets for ages 3-12. Every year we collect donations from our employees, and the company also designates funds for the bike drive. Once funds are collected, we go out on a bike/helmet shopping spree. The bikes are then donated to the Chesterfield County Christmas Mother where they are dispersed to families. Our employees, who spend much of their time driving IMS trucks, tractor trailers, and operating cranes, enjoy donating "wheels" for the kids in our community.
Team Fierce & Fabulous Annual Golf Tournament
“Fierce” sponsor headlining the event to raise money to benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). This is a cause very important to IMS since one of John’s granddaughters was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The family has made it their mission to raise money for research in the hopes that one day a cure will be found.

Chesterfield Historical Society Golf Classic
IMS donated funds to be a "Welcome Hole" sponsor the 6th Annual Chesterfield Historical Society Golf Classic held in October of 2012. Funds raised by the event are used to fulfill the society's mission of "collecting, preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history of Chesterfield County".
Richmond Police Academy Class of 2012
IMS consulted with one of Richmond Police Academy's 2012 recruit classes on a special project. The February graduates memorialized their commitment to the community and camaraderie as a class by placing a 2 ton boulder in front of the academy's training facility. This boulder will be marked with a plaque listing the names of the recruits in the class. IMS helped the recruits find the boulder, hauled it on one of our rigging trucks and then used our carry-deck crane to set the boulder on site. A big thanks goes out to all the hard work and dedication of the Richmond City Police Force as they work to protect the city and its citizens every day.
St. Augustine Parish Outreach Center
Recently, IMS donated a forklift to unload supplies and a truck to haul materials to the building site of St. Augustine Catholic Church new outreach center. When open, this center will house the food pantry and clothes cottage which parishioners in need can use to support their families.
Nothin' but Net at Ginter Park Baptist
IMS helped the parish community at Ginter Park Baptist undertake a recreational project to benefit the youth and the young at heart. IMS provided supplies and transport to refurbish the basketball goal located behind the church. Many pick-up games and community-building activities can now take place on the black top.
